The major outreach of the
Club occurs through football games. Whether playing a local village
school in front of a couple of teachers to playing a provincial team in
front of a couple of
thousand, football is a
great way to share Christianity. The Club works hard to put together a
team
that can share Jesus' love and saving power. We've done this through
sharing our testimonies either before the game, at half time or
afterwards, presenting tracts to the opposition before the game and
sharing meals with them afterwards. Particularly it is shown by the way
we play, as we play not for earthly spoils but to glorify our heavenly
father. This means
that we put out teams that whilst competitive strive to be
gracious in the way they
play, encourage each other and interact with the opposition. This isn’t
always easy, particularly when decisions aren’t going your way, but it
is an incredible witness and service of God. We have seen games used to
open doors for local churches to share the Gospel with their neighbours,
in their ones and twos or tens or hundreds or thousands and pray that
God will continue to use them for this. |
